The Summerhouse is a detached, single-level holiday cottage in Bilton, a small hamlet just outside Alnmouth in Northumberland. It sleeps two and welcomes up to two dogs. The lounge has fantastic views over the River Aln Valley and a traditional wood burner keeps things cosy on cooler evenings.
Bilton sits between the Northumberland coast and countryside, with Alnmouth under half an hour's walk away. There you'll find golden beach, cafes, gift shops and restaurants. The market town of Alnwick is a few miles off, home to Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Garden. National Cycle Route 1 runs through the area, handy if you've brought bikes.

The double bed has a full-thickness sprung mattress. The kitchen has an electric oven, hob, microwave and under-counter fridge. There's one shower room with a double shower and WC. Outside, a private south-facing patio with outdoor furniture is set up for dining alfresco.Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Garden are a few miles away by car. Bamburgh Castle and Dunstanburgh Castle both sit along the coast for a day of castle-spotting. Boat trips from nearby harbours head out to the Farne Islands and Coquet Island to see seabirds and seals. For something different, walk or cycle a mile along a quiet country lane to Greenrig halt on the Aln Valley Railway.
