It's a converted stone stable and hay loft and the building keeps its original character with a pine staircase and open beams running through it. Sleeping four across two bedrooms, it makes a cosy year-round base for exploring this part of the coast.

Alnwick itself is an easy walk from the door, so you don't need the car for much. The town has shops, pubs, a cinema and a theatre all within five minutes on foot and a leisure centre about ten minutes away. Northumberland's coast is close too, with beaches roughly a 15-minute drive from the cottage.

Downstairs is open-plan, with the kitchen, living and dining space all together and a smart TV for evenings in. There's a shower room with a cubicle shower on the ground floor as well. Upstairs holds a double bedroom with a 4ft 6in bed and a twin room with two 3ft singles. The cottage faces its own enclosed gravelled yard away from the road, giving it a good deal of privacy for somewhere so close to town.

Alnwick Castle and gardens are about a five-minute walk away, so history is right on the doorstep (0 miles, 5 minutes on foot). The Alnwick Garden is a ten-minute walk (0 miles, 10 minutes on foot). The coast, with its sandy beaches, is roughly a 15-minute drive (7 miles). Bamburgh Castle also lies within easy reach for a day trip along the coast.
