Larch House is a four-bedroom holiday house in the Northumberland village of Lesbury, near Alnmouth. It sleeps eight across two king-size and two twin bedrooms, one of which converts to a super-king on request. Lesbury is a quiet village with a pub and a community shop, so you don't need the car for everything. Alnmouth, with its golf course and harbour museum the Ferryman's Hut, is close by. Boat trips to Coquet Island for puffins and seals leave from Amble, six miles away.

This is a good base for birdwatchers and anyone who wants beach walks without the crowds.Downstairs there's a spacious hallway, a ground-floor WC and a separate snug with a games console, a good spot for younger guests to watch their own TV. The kitchen/diner has a large central island, an American-style fridge freezer, an electric range oven with part-gas part-induction hob and a Nespresso machine with pods provided. French doors lead from the dining area to the garden.
Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Garden are within 14 miles, both worth a full day out. Dunstanburgh Castle sits on the coast a short drive away and Northumberland Zoo makes a good family day. Howick Hall Gardens and Arboretum is another option nearby. Alnmouth beach itself is just one mile away.
Larch House suits families and groups of friends who want space, comfort and easy beach access without the crowds. The south-facing garden, wood burner and snug make it work whatever the weather. One dog is welcome too. Check your dates for a fantastic break in Northumberland.
